Amram gives a series of programs including All Roads Lead To Lowell, a survey of world music reflecting the poly-cultural past and present of Lowell in two concert-workshops for young people at the United Teen Equality Center • He will also be a speaker at the dedication of the Kerouac Corner at the Pollard Memorial Library in Lowell where Jack Kerouac read almost every book in their collection • Amram will also give a concert at th Sac Club, one of Kerouac's old haunts, in a program of some of the favorite music of Kerouac's youth, in a program called Moody Street Revisited, honoring the locale where the jazz luminaries of the 40's all performed when they came to Lowell • He will also lead a group of young musicians from Lowell as well as having veteran attendees of the annual festival read excerpts of Kerouac's work with musical accompaniment he will provide as he did when he began collaborating with Kerouac in the 1950s

In 1965, eighteen years before the film Schindler’s List was screened in 1993, David Amram’s opera of the Holocaust The Final Ingredient was telecast nationally by ABC Network TV • It was re-broadcast nationally every Passover for four seasons • The opera was based on the true story of a group of prisoners in a concentration camp who found a way to celebrate Passover and was adapted as a libretto by poet and author Arnold Weinstein • Amram will discuss the challenges of creating this work for network television with composer Leonard Lehrman, the founder of this series.

Amram returns for the 11th consecutive season to perform a concert at the Crystal Theater, as well as perform with songwriters John Fullbright, Radoslav Lorković, The Red Dirt Rangers and others * He also will provide music for the annual Oklahoma Poetry readings and giving a two hour presentation at the History Center, recounting his first meeting with Woody in 1956 and fifty years later completing composing This Land: Symphonic Variations on a Song by Woody Guthrie premiered in 2007 by Symphony Silicon Valley in San Jose and recorded with Amram conducting the Colorado Symphony in Denver Colorado in 2012. Amram will play his new recording of each variation and discuss how each reflects the venues Woody traveled from his birth place in Okemah throughout the country until his walks through the various neighborhoods of New York City in the early 1940s. He will also indicate how the theme appears and is developed and orchestrated in each variation, reflecting the cultural venue of each community honored in Woody’s travels.

Amram leads a group of outstanding jazz artists from Tulsa in a tribute to Okmulgee Oklahoma’s master bassist Oscar Pettiford • Amram will recount he and fellow improvising jazz french hornist Julius Watkins performed, toured and recorded with Oscar’s big band from 1956-1958. Amram was inducted into the Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame as the recipient of the Jay McShann Lifetime Achievement Award for his work with Pettiford and his inclusion of jazz in his classical compositions, film and theater scores and pioneering work with author Jack Kerouac in New York City’s first-ever public jazz poetry readings in 1957.

Amram joins the Dylan Perrillo 12-piece orchestra as a guest soloist and leads his own program of the classics of world Music, jazz, and describes his meetings in Saratoga Springs when performing at the Café Lena with solo oboist John De Lancie of the Philadelphia Orchestra in 1974, and how their meetings formed the basis of Amram’s work Trail of Beauty for solo oboe, mezzo-soprano and orchestra which was commissioned and premiered by the Philadelphia Orchestra conducted by Eugene Ormandy in 1977. Amram will also recount how Saratoga Springs and the Cafe Lena remain a perfect environment for bringing together the worlds of European classical music, jazz and global folkloric music together

July 20 • Lincoln Center's Centennial Salute to Frank Sinatra

Amram hosts the screening of Frank Sinatra’s classic film The Manchurian Candidate and describes his experiences as the composer of the score of the film in 1962 and the events that occurred following its release. Amram’s archive was acquired by the Lincoln Center Library of Performing Arts in 2013 and he will detail where to find materials archived by the Library in order to study the original manuscript of the score and correspondence with director John Frankenheimer • He will also discuss how the film, after being withdrawn from circulation in 1963, following the assassination of President Kennedy, was re-released in 1988, and how the original score - including outtakes - will finally be available November of 2015 as part of a box set of Amram’s music for films from 1956-2015

Amram will participate in a panel "Wisdom of the Elders" celebrating his 60 years of championing global roots of folk music and how they contribute to all forms of music; He will also play with a new generation of musicians at the conference and share the rudiments of the many worlds of music which he calls his home and discuss his years in Canada as a guest conductor of symphonies, multi-instrumentalist at folk, jazz, Native and world music festivals and how the Canadian concept of the mosaic as opposed to the American concept melting pot is the key for a new generation of acoustic music performers to help create a whole new musical environment for the world

After three days of performing and mentoring young musicians, Sunday afternoon Nov 15 from 2:30 until early evening, there will be an Amram Day 85th Birthday Bash, celebrating his lifetime of collaborations with musicians of all genres with a concert and jam session, including as many musicians as possible to give each of them a chance to shine • The event will be presented by the North East Regional Folk Alliance, which brings programs of live music to school children and encourages young singer-songwriters to continue to be creative, and celebrates the musical treasures of the past as well of as the exciting new music being created today

December 21 • Back To Where All Began, Amram At 85

Amram’s final 85th birthday event will be celebrated in the neighborhood where he lived for the first two years after he arriving in New York City 60 years ago in 1955 • Actress and producer Crystal Field, the founder of the Theater for the New City and Amram first worked together in Joe Papp’s Shakespeare in the Park in the late 50s and in 1960 for Elia Kazan in his classic film Splendor in the Grass • Amram has played every one of the 20 annual Festivals of the Lower East Side presented by the Theater for the New City, as well as receiving their Love and Courage Award

The first half of this 85th birthday celebration will include performances of Amram’s chamber music compositions with performances of the Finale of Ode to Lord Buckley, a saxophone concerto and Greenwich Village Portraits for alto saxophone and piano, whose three movements are dedicated respectively to Arthur Miller, Odetta and Frank McCourt • Both of these pieces are were composed for and premiered by saxophonist Kenneth Radnofsky, who will be joined by pianist Damien Francoeur-Krzyzek

The Violin Sonata will be performed by Elmira Darvarova, the first woman to ever be concertmaster of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and the founder of the annual New York Chamber Music Festival • Blues and Variations for Monk for Unaccompanied Horn will be performed by the New York Philharmonic’s french horn virtuoso Howard Wall, composed in memory of Thelonious Monk, who was a mentor to Amram in the 50s, encouraging him to continue to pursue his path as both an improvising jazz french hornist and a composer of formal classical music • The Wind and Rain for viola and piano will be performed by Consuelo Sherba. The music, based on a score written for Joe Papp’s production of 12th Night in Central Park was later included in Amram's opera 12th Night, commissioned by the New York Shakespeare Festival with a libretto by Joe Papp

The second half of the gala evening will include Amram’s quintet, who will be joined by guest artists from the many worlds of music which Amram calls his home, as well as friends and collaborators from the theater, film and dance • There will also be readings from On the Road with music, which Kerouac and Amram pioneered in 1957 at the first-ever jazz poetry readings presented in New York City, a few blocks from where the Theater for the New City is located today • It was here in this same neighborhood that Amram also met Woody Guthrie in 1956, as well as the same year and same neighborhood where he met Kerouac and Joe Papp, so it is a perfect place to conclude the series of 85th birthday celebrations
